Southampton Old Cemetery

When I saved some money and scheduled all my business, I took my suitcase and went to Southampton to visit a friend. I have heard a lot about iit but I had never been there. It is not quite big, but there are people and it is dynamic city. The deck is really interesting and the cemetery, where these pics were taken, gathers some vestiges of II World War and Titanic's crew. There is a park not far from there which is enormous and really wel--considered by ecologists. There was some tall vegetation and trees that made me think of that maze of bushes in The Shining, one of my favourite movies. There was sunshine and the walk was pleasant, I recommend you to take a stroll there if you are planning to travel around South England someday.

About the look you would have realised that I finally made it and got my biker jakcet. It is not the best one ever but it is enough for me. Sunglasses are also new, I needed to purchase some new designs and I really like this one. It had been a long time since I last wore the shoes that you already know.

Thanks Mamen for taking all the pics and being sooo patient.

Blue stakes are used to note that there is a member of the Titanic's crew lying there, in the same way red crosses indicate the place of soldiers in II World War

Glasgow Meets Zombie

Going to Glasgow from my place is only a matter of time and feeling like in a 'city mood'. It is one of the biggest cities in UK and it does not seem too Scottish because of tis contemporary look. However, it is the perfect place to live in my opinion. Perhaps it is because where it is place and the fact that I am now more or less accustomed to the accent (which is bringing me down most of the times).

Crowded streets with huge buildings; some of them with a traditional appearance and some others look like ones from a really modern city. Street art represented by graffittis which were literally enormous and a great ambience if you want to go shopping, visiting modern art galleries and chatting while drinking several beer jars.

We had a wonderful day and my thickest garment was The Zombie Kids sweatshirt. I bought it almost two years ago and even if I have worn it a lot of times, it is as flawless as the first day. In a foreign city it may be a reason for receiving curious glances; those who see a funny parody of Burger King's logotype and those who are Spanish as well and read the name of the group, and sometime they will probably wonder if you are Spanish as them.

Air Max Day

I bet you will be fed up with ads in Instagram and Twitter about the 'Air Max Day'. 27 years ago Nike Air Max first pair of sneakers was released. Its remakes and versions have made Nike become one of the most important sportsbrand in the whole world, and the Air Max the trendiest sneakers nowadays.

In 1987, when Air Max 1 was released, several customers did not feel happy about how the shoe was. The see-through bouncing sole was not a good feature for that kind of running shoe in their opinion. However, it happenned what it was expected; Air Max were slowly sold to those sportsmen who actually needed these shoes and the trendsetters who considered Air Max something new and astonishing. Tinker Hatfield was the responsible for Air Max 1, those who cause a "creative revolution" in fashion industry.

Honestly, I was not really into Air Max some years ago. Afterwards, sneakers' trend arrived and almost every designer tried to offer their own sneakers in the runways. Since I bought my first pair of Nike (Air Vengeance VTG, you will probably have seen them around in this blog) I have been looking for some Air Max I liked but I did not succeed. I only liked those which appeared in Instagram pic or limited editions that were out of my reach.

Today I wanted to write about Air Max choosing some designs that I really liked. Some of them are only by Nike but there are a few that came after a colab with other brands. I have ordered mine (finally!) and I will not reveal how they are like until I get them (they are in my Spanish house). Anyway, I hope you will be able to see them soon in this blog or in my Instagram profile (@danigorey). Finally, let me tell you; all those who are already enjoying their Air Max, you are so lucky! And those who are not yet, it is time to save some money (that is the truth, unfortunately).

Sunglasses wanted

Since I came to Scotland I do not have a routine. My timetable is extremely weird, I am not able to get used to lunch time and that stuff and daylight does not last too long. I am in a quite small city but there are always paths and places you have to look for really carefully. Some weeks ago there was a lot of sunshine. I left my sunglasses at home but I brought my camera instead, and I could finally use it after having it repaired.

About the outfit, you know that I am not really into jogging pants, but there are always those days in which you only want to feel comfy and do not give a shit about what you are wearing.

86th Academy Awards

http://bodyandroses.blogspot.com.es

As you all will probably know by now, last night the 86th Academy Awards' ceremony took place in Dolby Theatre, LA. The biggest event in film industry was highly exciting as it tends to be every year. Gravity was the clear winner with 7 awards and 12 Years A Slave became Best Picture. Acting awards were given out to Lupita Nyong'o (Best Actress in a Supporting Role in 12 Years A Slave), Jared Leto (Best Actor in a Supporting Role in Dallas Buyers Club) and Matthew McConaughey (Best Actor in a Leading Role in Dallas Buyers Club) who made Di Caprio losing his chance of winning once again. Ceremony turned out nice and entertaining provided Ellen DeGeneres' brilliant job as hostess of the show. And now here I am, really sleepy but it is worth it to tell you my perspective on Oscars ceremony's style issue.

This post will be a bit more special than the other ones. My friend Bárbara Calvo from BODY&ROSES blog and I decided to work together on this. She will analyse how ladies did with their outfits and I will do the same thing with gentlemen. Do not stop visiting her site, find out about the best dressed women at the Oscars and find a lot of new other contents!

http://bodyandroses.blogspot.com.es

Concerning the ceremony, clearly defined by the "old-but-renewed" fashion things such as selfies and photobomb, we find out that actresses' were stylish but they did not innovate a lot. On the other hand, men have moved one step forward, risking with colours and accesories. Partial white looks and unseen bow-ties were some of the resources they relied on.

Impecables.

Classical choices are never wrong in this kind of events, so Cooper and Fassbender were both enough dressed up and they turned out as two of the smartest men in the ceremony. However, I personally prefer Fassbender, I love his style and I think formal outfits really suit him.

First ones who dared wearing something out of the norm were Jared Leto and Matthew McConaughey. Leto was also trending topic in Twitter because of his peculiar hairstyle. I am not really into white suits. In this images, they both wear it proudly and smartly, but I prefer McConaughey's.

Leonardo Di Caprio did not win his award either this year. However, it is always a pleasure to spot him with his stylish looks. He never fails at this kind of events. He showed up with a suit that seemed perfect for him.

Mal.

I finish this post with the biggest failure of the night. Maybe he was trying to be original or something, but Pharrell Wiliams showed up in the red carpet with a Lanvin suit with shorts. I think this was a casual outfit that was out of its place or circumstances. It was even funny and embarrassing at the same time. Wrong, Pharrell.

Mad Choice #5

Here comes the fifth choice of that stuff you have to put an eye on. Spring lookbooks have now started to appear in stores; some of them give their best and they even offer sandals for next summer. Today's choice has been done specifically provided that I found more practical including those garments we will be probably using during the whole year. Besides, weather is driving everyone crazy; forecasts might be totally unexpected. Another Mad Choice will be probably published by summer.

Even if the cold weather is becoming warmer, a good jacket is always a good idea, specially because of the rain. This one is like a parka, but shorter and with a leaves print that looks nice. It is by Farah Vintage and it is available in Urban Outfitters online store.

If you had not realised yet, let me tell you that bomber jackets are just a trend this season. Now that we will have to replace our thickest jackets, it is a good time to choose one of these. There are plenty of styles but I have chosen these two: the first one, really eye-catching and the second, 80's-inspired and different pockets. Both by Zara.

Asos' sales are still on, there are some garments that you can get. This shirt by Cheap Monday with coloured sleeves is really original and I would purchase it if I were you. I think some weeks ago this shirt was also available in blue, but I am not really sure.

We already know that Wayfarer sunglasses will never stop being a trend. However, it is not a bad thing to try other styles. Firstly, the squared-shape sunglasses I showed you some mad choices ago, by Céline x Safilo. On the other hand, round sunglasses are still among us. I have been looking for these ones for such a long time, I hope I will get them soon. They are by Jeepers Peepers and if my memory is good enough, I think I spotted them in River Island's website.

Lastly, some shoes for you. Robert Clergerie has designed some shoes for men, good thing for all of us! These two pairs are the ones who I liked the most. The upper ones, classical loafers with contrast and the ones below, derby shoes in b&w, more risky but nice anyway.

But the greatest ones are these shoes by Dior, a classical type of shoes who has been updated with some metalic details and the air thing in the sole (I do not know how to say it in English, sorry hahah) which make the shoes more casual and totally unique. We are expecting something alike in a low cost store. 950€ are really an issue...
